Eugène H.J. Martis (Curaçao, 1960) obtained his Business law and Tax law degree at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He also completed a vocational training for company lawyers of the Association of Company Lawyers in the Netherlands (Beroepsopleiding voor bedrijfsjuristen van het Nederlands Genootschap voor Bedrijfsjuristen). After having worked several years in the Netherlands as a legal/tax consultant and afterwards as general counsel with an insurance company, he joined Brown Lawyers in 1992 and is a former partner of the law firm. Eugène’s current rol at Brown Lawyers is of counsel.
Eugène advises our local and international clients on a full range of legal services, focusing on general litigation, corporate law, contract law, banking, insurance law, intellectual property law and employment law, and he acts as court appointed administrator or trustee in bankruptcies.
In the past he was involved as a Board Member in several business, community and service organizations, among others the General Health Insurance of Aruba, the Blood Bank of Aruba and Caribbean Palm Village Resort. He is currently a member of the Council of Advice Aruba (Raad van Advies Aruba) and the Board of Trustees of the University of Aruba. In addition he serves as President of the Appeals Committee of the Aruban Football Federation (Arubaanse Voetbal Bond). Eugène is married with two children and is a 36 time marathoner.

Maura E.D. Brown (Leiden, 1966) obtained her law degree at the University of Leiden in 1990. After working in The Hague at a Trust Company, Maura joined Brown Lawyers in 1992.
Maura has provided local and international clients with a full range of legal services, focusing on litigation, labor- and contract law, mainly in the tourism-, energy- and banking sector.
After having been a partner at Brown Lawyers for more than 25 years, Maura’s current role at Brown Lawyers is of counsel. As such shefocuses mainly on labor law, specializing in labor-reorganizations, labor benefits, termination- and collective labor law. Maura also provides expertise in debt collection on behalf of corporate clients of Brown Lawyers.
Maura is a former member of the Social Economic Counsel of Aruba (on behalf of the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association) and has held different Board positions in various non-profit organizations.

Sulaine G. Tromp (Voorburg, 1985) obtained her law degree from the University of Aruba in 2022. Shortly after graduating, she joined Brown Lawyers and was admitted to the Bar.
Sulaine advises clients in administrative law, civil law, contract law, labor law and criminal law.
Sulaine is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish and Papiamento. She enjoys watching true crime series and reading.

Jurney J. Tromp (Aruba, 1997) obtained her law degree from the University of Aruba in 2020. During her studies, she completed internships at both the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Openbaar Ministerie) and the Supreme Court of the Netherlands (Hoge Raad der Nederlanden). She was admitted to the Bar as an attorney in 2021 and joined Brown Lawyers in 2024.
Jurney advises clients in administrative law, civil law, contract law, labor law and criminal law.
Jurney is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish and Papiamento. She enjoys meditation, running, and reading.

René J. Cera (Aruba, 1996) obtained his law degree from the University of Aruba in 2022. He joined Brown Lawyers and was admitted to the Bar in that same year
René advises clients in civil law, M&A, finance and corporate law, administrative law, bankruptcy, labor law and criminal law.
René is fluent in Dutch, English, Spanish, and Papiamento. He enjoys soccer, motor sports and relaxing by the beach.

Marisol D. Tromp (Aruba, 1973) obtained her law degree at the University of Groningen and has a bachelor’s degree in Management Economy and Law from the Hanze University of Groningen for Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. After having worked in the private sector in Aruba as corporate legal adviser, she joined Brown Lawyers in 2006 and was admitted to the bar in that same year. After an interval of 3 years in 2021 she returned to Brown Lawyers as a partner in 2025.
Marisol provides legal advice to corporate clients, semi-governmental companies, financial institutions and local businesses.
She served as a board member to non-profit organizations. She enjoys nature, running, cooking and reading.

America E. Barrios (Caracas, 1981) started working with Brown Lawyers in 2005 as a paralegal. After obtaining her law degree at the University of Aruba in 2006, she joined Brown Lawyers in 2006 as an attorney at law and became a partner in 2012.
America provides legal advice and litigation services to mostly corporate clients in the hotel-sector, insurance companies, financial institutions and small- and medium sized local businesses.
She currently serves as a member of the Social Economic Council of Aruba (on behalf of the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association), has held Board positions in various non-profit organizations and enjoys beach tennis and reading.

Patrick R.C. Brown (Leiden, 1971) obtained his law degree at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1995. He joined Brown Lawyers and was admitted to the Bar in that same year. He became a partner in the firm in 2000.
Patrick provides M&A- and financing services, legal advice and litigation services to mostly corporate clients in the hotel-sector, insurance companies, financial institutions and small- and medium sized local businesses.
Currently Patrick serves as a member of the Supervisory Council for the Legal Profession and as Supervisory Board member of Free Zone Aruba N.V. He enjoys field hockey, running and cooking.
